At the recent Autox I went to, there was a professional photographer for the event. He got a bunch of sweet shots of the cars out there and has the whole batch for sale. In there of course are some of my photos, so I am thinking about buying a few. Anyways, I just thought this one was hilarious how close to the grass I got.

Kinja'd!!!

But I just made it without punting the cone!

Kinja'd!!!

And I didnt take out any timing lights like that guy! I should have asked him about the spoiler though. I want to get one and am trying to learn more about the options out there. They are legal in CSP so why not!

Nice headlights.

I finally got the water out of the passenger one. It was looking like a gold fish bowl. MANY blinker fluid jokes were had.

But baking it and resealing with lots of silicone did the trick. Now I have halfway decent looking MSM headlights! And the clips arent broken. Still wish I paid less but these things are hard to find in any condition and it was still cheaper than the ludicrous pricing for new NB2 headlights anyways.

I’d love to paint mine MSM-esque but with how expensive NB2 lights are, as you said, I’m too scared of screwing it up.

Here’s some info about the lexan spoiler:

http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/61-1573.html

It’s made by Blackbird Fabworx and if it’s anything like the quality of their rollbars, it’s worth it. The testimonials sound good, but I’ve never asked anyone I’ve seen with one what they think.

Everyone told me “Miata parts are cheap”. But nobody mentioned the part about headlights costing more than a set of 4 tires lol.

Haha I think it would definitely be super easy to DIY that though. The 200 degrees for 22 minutes method to get them apart really does work. And it was pretty hard to screw up. I think its only worthwhile doing if your headlights already leak though.

Painting the inside seems pretty simple. I did some patch work on mine since half the foil crap was peeling in one of them.

Well yeah I really want to know firsthand if people like them. I just gotta make sure to take some time to ask about them some time. Im sure someone at another event will have one. It seems pretty easy to install it but I wonder if I can easily take it on/off to still use my luggage rack.

Man if I had unlimited money, I would be buying so many things from Good win lol. I finally got around to ordering a heat shield from them for my header so that it can stop baking my intake.

I know the feeling!

Speaking of Good-Win, those seats you posted... do they mount to the stock humps, or are they just flat mounts? If they’re flat mounts, I have a brand new drivers-side Good-win mount that you can have for cheap. I’m cutting my seat humps out in the next few days.

They mount to the stock humps. And they come with the garage star mounts. But I havent decided 100% to get them until I go check them out. I also dont want to pay $600 for the whole set of stuff but I think $500 is doable without low balling the guy too much. The mounts themselves are like $300 shipped EACH, so its a good deal if I like how they fit.

I also have a track dog bottom mount that I got from another guy super cheap. So I could go either way with that. Anyways, thanks for the offer!

Awesome! I’m in no rush to sell it (I don’t even know where I stashed it, actually!), but if you hear of anyone who might need something like that, keep me in mind. Hah

Aero is allowed in CSP? Also, your passenger’s arm hanging out the door would earn a stiff talking-to from my club.

Mine don’t leak or anything so I don’t want to touch them. I want to do the paint thing but instead of doing black I wanted to do the body color of my car. Kinda like C6 headlights.

Yeah, I would have given the same stiff talking to had I noticed it! I didnt realize this until I saw the pictures now haha. I guess he had trouble staying in place due to my slippery leather seats but still, no excuse since I have a door handle to hold onto.

And yeah there is limited aero allowed in Street Prepared. That rear deck spoiler “not to extend more than 10 inches from the body work in any direction” and the same for the front I believe (splitters, air dams, and simple bolt on stuff). You can also cut fenders as long as you put covers over the holes.

I dont really plan to build to my class though, just the easy add ons since they are allowed and not too pricey. Plus it would just scream RACE CAR lol.

Ah - didn’t know that on the aero - that’s awesome! I have a friend who has a crazy well-prepped Miata with that spoiler on it, and it looks badass.

Every autocross I’ve done this year that had a photographer attend, they NEVER get shots of my car. I have no clue why not, since I would pony up a little for web quality digital images to share...

Yeah if only my paint wasn’t such ass, then I’d be more interested in buying some of the photos. Otherwise I’m fine with low resolution with a giant logo across it lol. I’m surprised the guy in my home region does the same thing every event for free.

that’s kind of awesome. I think next weekend I’m going to make sure I have a card on me, and if I see someone who appears to know what they’re doing with a camera, I’m going to just straight up ask them to take some and email me. So far the only action shots I have are from a really old potato...

Yup, action shots are the best. It’s also good to have friends who are into photography lol

That’s my problem. I’m the friend into photography. Makes it hard to get shots of my own car on course though...

Really long selfie stick. Or a drone to follow you around. Also, try other local regions. Last season I ran with about 8 different regions in total.

I’ve run with two clubs this year. The other club’s photo guy didn’t get me either...
